These Products are entered into competition with each other in their categories and are judged by an expert panel, complimented by a jury of their peers. The winning entries are given Awards and prizes at BOBTV 2008.

HOW DOES THE CHALLENGE WORK?

 BOBTV derives a theme for each department and sends an invitation letter to each school
 The departments send in acceptance letters by email
 The students work on the assigned theme for a specified period of time
 The finished products are sent to BOBTV in a specified format and entered for screening at BOBTV 2008
 The participating schools attend the BOBTV 2008 University Challenge event.
 All entries are screened by a jury at the event
 The departments with the winning entries are given awards

Entry Conditions
The BOBTV University Challenge is available to Undergraduate students of our participating universities only. Post graduate degree students and the teaching staff are excluded from direct participation but may supervise the project as deemed fit by the university.

BRIEF ON BOBTV 2008 UNIVERSITY CHALLENGE

Departments of Mass Communication

BOBTV requires all participating Mass Communication departments to compete in the Documentary category. The theme chosen for the BOBTV 2008 University Challenge documentary is ‘Marriage; A Nigerian Perspective’. You are required to create and produce a documentary of maximum length Twenty- four (24) minutes which examines marriage as a Nigerian social activity. This documentary is expected to draw inspiration from your local community, its tradition and culture. This project may be produced in English or local languages with English subtitle. Please note that your presentation must communicate in clear language and pictures the essence of the subject matter. The production formats accepted are Mini- DV or DVCAM.

Departments of Theatre/Creative Arts
Short Film
BOBTV requires all participating Theatre Arts department to create and produce a short film of maximum length 24 minutes. The theme chosen for BOBTV 2008 University Challenge is ‘Living in Nigeria’. This film is to be produced using talent drawn from your department and capturing the elements of theatrical and cinematic expression and entertaining while informing. The production formats accepted are Mini-DV or DVCAM

Departments of History
BOBTV requires all participating History departments to do a historical documentary on Nigerian icons that have played major roles in societal development whether locally or at the national level (traditional, religious, economic, academic or political icons). The theme chosen for BOBTV 2008 University Challenge’s History department documentary is ‘Legends of Our Time’. This documentary could be on the Pre colonial, Colonial or Post Colonial era with duration of 24 minutes and should be factual and verifiable. Production may be in English or local language with English subtitle; the production formats accepted are Mini-DV or DVCAM

Departments of Music and African Studies
Folksongs and Dance
BOBTV requires all participating Music departments to capture at most five folksongs and dance of the host community of the University and or other communities within convenient access to your project teams. The production should be subtitled in English and should be factual and verifiable.
